Dabur India: A healthy show
Shares of Dabur India gained more than 2% to trade at Rs 527.25 apiece Wednesday as the ‘Chyawanprash’ maker reported 20% rise in net profit to Rs 392.70 crore during the fiscal second quarter to September 30.
The home-grown consumer goods maker, on Tuesday, reported a 13.7% growth in consolidated revenue at Rs 2,516 crore, the highest revenue growth in the last couple of years.
It’s e-commerce business grew by over 200% in the quarter and now contributes 6% to its overall sales compared to 2.1% a year earlier.
This stupendous growth in revenue is attributed to focus on its core healthcare portfolio, investments behind power brands and distribution expansion.
Dabur’s India FMCG business reported a revenue increase of 19.8% in the quarter.
Dabur reported a 49% growth in its healthcare business, led by immunity-boosting products such as Chyawanprash. Its home and personal care business grew by high single digits, while the domestic foods business grew on riding on an in-home surge in consumption.
Health supplements business grew 70.8% growth in the quarter.
Rural demand grew ahead of urban; favourable monsoon and enhanced stimulus announced by the government is expected to further drive rural demand in the coming months.
